Recipes
Some people collect bells while others collect baseball cards; as for me, I collect cookbooks. If I were a print reader rather than a braille reader, this would not be a problem. Braille, however, takes up a lot of space! One paperback print book can take up an entire bookshelf when produced in braille. My copy of “The Joy of Cooking” comes in thirty volumes measuring 11 by 11 by 4 and takes up an entire bookcase.
You can imagine how happy I and my family were when I started to collect cookbooks in electronic form and read them on a refreshable braille display. What once took up a room, now takes up a single SD card. I also use text to speech so that I don’t place my sticky fingers on my expensive braille display (smile).
What you will find here is a growing list of recipes I have prepared on “Brian’s Man Cave Kitchen” as I have strived to teach others how they to can enjoy cooking and baking without relying on their vision. These are not recipes that I have created, rather, they come from many sources and in many cases I have altered them to clearly indicate how to prepare them non visually.
I have tried to layout a consistent outline for each recipe so that those who use them can become familiar with how things are going to take place and what they will need to succeed in preparing them.
Over time I expect that I will publish a cookbook or two from these recipes, but for now I will place them here as I finish each “Brian’s Man Cave Kitchen” episode.
